The Executive Governor of Benue State His Excellency, Reverend Father Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, spearheaded the official commencement of the construction of an underpass at Gyado junction in Gboko Local Government Area on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.
Represented by the Commissioner for Works, Housing, and Urban Development, Honorable Isaac Tiza Imojime, Governor Alia expressed the significance of the project in alleviating traffic congestion and stimulating economic growth in the state’s urban centers due to population expansion.
Assuring Gboko residents of measures to mitigate inconveniences during construction, Governor Alia highlighted the project’s novelty in the area, positioning it as a crucial infrastructural development second only to the High Level underpass in Makurdi.
Engr. Charbel Tannous, the Project Manager for Bauhaus Nigeria Limited, the construction company responsible for the project, pledged dedication to delivering quality work within the stipulated timeframe.
Addressing the media at the High Level underpass construction site, Commissioner Imojime reiterated the administration’s commitment to enhancing Benue State’s infrastructure, with a focus on aesthetic appeal and future traffic management.
According to Asortar James Asortar, with a budget of 6 billion naira, the project aims for completion within twelve months, with plans for extension to other towns within the state already in motion.
Furthermore, the government under Reverend Father Alia‘s leadership is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to provide quality and affordable housing solutions, underscoring a comprehensive approach to development.
Project Manager Mr. Charbel Ammar reported smooth progress, with the project already achieving approximately 20% completion.
